On August 1st, USAID’s Justice for All (JFA) Program held a signing ceremony to launch partnerships with sub-grantees in three of the five USAID’s JFA pilot districts—Khulna, Dhaka and Mymensingh.  Representatives from Women’s Job Creation Center (WJCC), the Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs (BCCP), Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST), and the Bangladesh National Woman Lawyer's Association (BNWLA), participated in the ceremony.

The sub-grantees will contribute to JFA's objective to increase legal literacy among target populations though public legal awareness and community sensitization campaigns designed to increase the number of justice seekers using government legal aid services. All sub-grantees will coordinate their work with the District Legal Aid Committees, the District Legal Aid Officer and the Union and Upazila level Legal Aid Committees to improve coordination between GO-NGO efforts in the area of legal aid.

The public awareness campaigns will highlight five key messages:

 • Eligible litigants can receive legal aid services by contacting the DLAC, ULAC, UPLAC or the NLASO hotline
 • Eligible litigants are entitled to legal advice, legal representation and mediation paid for by the government
 • If you feel that your rights have been violated or you would like to protect your rights, the formal courts can provide a remedy
 • Your legal rights are protected by the Government of Bangladesh and asserting these rights makes you stronger
 • The Government of Bangladesh is working hard to improve the quality and responsiveness of legal aid services

The five key messages as well as the USAID’s JFA Awareness Strategy have been designed to guide the sub-grantees in the implementation of their activities and ensure success of their deliverables. USAID’s JFA grants and monitoring/evaluation national staff look forward field visits in the future to follow up on the progress of all sub-grantees.
