Wall writing informs citizens of legal aid services in Dinajpur

Last Updated: 10 February 2015

On 8 February 2015, the Mangalpur Union Parishad and Dhamair Union Parishad under Birol Upazila of Dinajpur District wrote messages on the free legal aid services offered by the government on the walls of their premises. Through the wall writing the Union Parishad Legal Aid Committees are informing citizens on how to access free legal aid services and sharing the phone number of the Union Parishad Secretary as the point of contact.
Both Union Parishad made these wall writings using their own fund after USAID’s Justice for All Program, through its local sub-grantee AID Comilla, shared this best practice from Rajshahi District. This exchange of information provides a good example of GO-NGO collaboration at the local level. AID Comilla anticipates that up to 50 other Union Parishads will complete similar wall writing by the end of March 2015.
USAID’s Justice for All Program has been providing technical support to increase citizen awareness of legal rights in 102 Union Parishads under 13 Upazilas of Dinajpur District since January 2015.
