On September 21-22, 2016, USAID’s Justice for All (JFA) Program hosted the 10th Sub-Grantees Coordination Meeting in Dhaka. Project Coordinators, Managers, and Finance Officers of JFA’s sub-grantees attended the two-day meeting, which was facilitated by JFA staff to build the capacity of sub-grantee staff to comply with USAID rules and regulations, JFA policies and procedures, and project implementation plans.

During the meeting, participants discussed coordination on mandatory activities and learned about JFA’s support to strengthen the Supreme Court Legal Aid Committee and Chowki Legal Aid Committees. They also received training on monitoring and evaluation, procurement procedures, and cost share reporting and documentation. In addition, Project Coordinators/Managers shared their field level success stories.

Ms. Rizia Parven, Project Coordinator of Rupantar (Khulna), one of four participants who attended all ten Sub-Grantee Coordination Meetings, noted “I have learned a lot at all the meetings, the two sessions led by JFA COP Mr. Harold D. Dampier, Jr., on flipchart preparation and use in courtyard meetings, were the most memorable moments of the past ten meetings.”

Attending his first coordination meeting, Mr. Jahangir Alam, Project Coordinator of Democracywatch (Mymensingh), commented that “the session on ‘Planning JFA Technical Support to Chowki Legal Aid Committees’ will allow him to start working with Chowki committees in Mymensingh district immediately.”

Mr. Habibullah Khan, Finance Officer, MLAA (Munshiganj), expressed that after the workshop he understood the importance of accurate timesheets and detailed exclusion checks.

JFA convenes coordination meetings on a quarterly basis to ensure field activities implemented through sub-grantee partners are harmonized, efficient, and effective.
